We are partnering with an established business experiencing a continuing period of rapid growth, and we’re currently seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to join their dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a leadership role in overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the group, ensuring compliance, and providing critical insights to support strategic decision-making.

As the business expands, you will be at the forefront of driving financial performance across multiple legal entities, handling foreign currency transactions, and working closely with operational teams to enhance profitability and efficiency.
Please note: this is an office-based role and you will need your own transport due to location.
Key responsibilities:
Financial reporting and accounting -

Oversee and consolidate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for all group companies.

Ensure the timely and accurate completion of month-end close processes across all entities.

Maintain group chart of accounts, intercompany balances, and reconciliations.

Prepare consolidated accounts in compliance with IFRS, UK GAAP, and other applicable accounting standards.
Treasury and foreign exchange -

Manage multi-currency bank accounts and oversee foreign currency transactions.

Monitor and manage FX risk, ensuring optimal cash flow management.

Develop and refine cash flow forecasts for all group entities.
Export and international operations -

Collaborate with logistics and sales teams to ensure accurate accounting for vehicle exports, customs duties, and VAT implications.

Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and tax reporting obligations.
Budgeting and forecasting:

Lead the annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting processes.

Provide variance analysis, commentary, and insights to senior management and stakeholders.

Develop and monitor KPIs to assess the financial health and operational performance of the group.
Audit, tax and compliance -

Coordinate and manage year-end audits for all group entities.

Work with external tax advisors to ensure accurate corporate tax, VAT, and import/export duties calculations and timely payments.

Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements in each operating jurisdiction.

Build strong working relationships with HMRC to ensure proactive tax compliance.
Systems and process improvement -

Enhance and streamline financial systems, processes, and internal controls to support the company’s rapid growth.

Evaluate and implement new tools (e.g. ERP systems, reporting tools) as necessary.

Lead the digital transformation of financial workflows and reporting.
Team management -

Supervise and mentor a small finance team across various locations.
-
Provide leadership, guidance, and training to junior finance staff.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and performance excellence.
Who we’re looking for:
Experience -
-
Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or in a similar senior finance role, ideally with exposure to multi-currency transactions and international operations.

Strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and managing financial systems.

Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment is essential.

Previous experience in export and international trade compliance is a plus.

Qualifications -

ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or equivalent).
