Seminar – Navigating the future: AI in the workplace and employment law.
Are you in the know?
Date: Wednesday 28th February 2024
Time: 9.30am to 11.30am (approx)
Venue: Guildford Pavillion
Speakers: Steve Herbert, HR & Employee Benefits Specialist
Mike Cole, Employment Law Solicitor & Partner, Penningtons Manches Cooper LLP
Based on a survey representing nearly 200,000 employees, more than 7 in every 10 employers (73%) do NOT expect the arrival of AI to result in large numbers of lost jobs.
Despite this encouraging outlook, it is crucial to consider what changes may lie ahead and how, from an HR viewpoint, we can effectively manage this shifting landscape.
For our first event of 2024, two of the forum’s favourite speakers will come together to share their knowledge and insights on the prolific subject of AI. They will look at AI and its use in business, its impact on the way we work, and the questions this may raise from employment law and HR perspectives:
-
Session 1: Employment law update – Mike Cole
First, Mike will kick off with an employment law update by delivering a round-up of the most topical issues impacting us in 2024, (including recent cases on harassment, religion and belief discrimination, highlighting the key points from an HR angle).
-
Session 2: AI – the robots are coming! – Steve Herbert
Next up, Steve will be looking at the impact of AI. As the hot topic of the moment, he will unravel some of our concerns about AI and its profound influence on the world of work. In this fast-paced session, he will delve into the latest data, trends, and historical evidence, offering a unique perspective on what these changes mean for employers, HR policies, and the broader future of the UK workplace.
-
Session 3: The legal ramifications of AI – Mike Cole and Steve Herbert
In a collaborative session, Mike and Steve will then spotlight the legal implications surrounding AI use. Mike will address the potential of perpetuating bias in using AI for the hiring process and other implications (e.g. redundancy selection) and the resulting challenges for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) efforts.
-
Your chance to ask the experts…
